Lyrics & Lessons Learned

Close your eyes
Open your heart
It’s the truth versus your lies
In the biggest war you will ever have fought

Do you realize
How long you’ve been living in disguise?
But you’re not alone just look into my eyes
Do you see the part of me that wants to fly?

Just take a minute
Do you see that part of you that said “Forget it!”?
It’s been winning at showing you your limit
Stealing all your dreams just like a bandit

“Chorus”
Promise the world… that you will try
Promise the world… you won’t deny
So don’t be afraid… have some faith
Over time you’ll walk it straight
Don’t turn around when you see the gate
On the other side is where we wait
Promise the World…

Do you remember
When the world was yours to discover?
Expanding far and wide until forever
But it’s not too late ‘cause if you fight you’ll conquer

And now you fight
Because what’s inside of you is your right
Just show the world who you are and it might
Help you every day, every night

“Chorus”

LESSON LEARNED 1 OF 12:
Each and every single one of us has a uniquely important purpose which we are meant to discover and fulfill.

I don’t know who you are
But would you mind to sit and talk for a while?
We don’t have to go too far
I only wish to see you smile

“Chorus”
I don’t want to be just someone else
I don’t want to lose or forget myself
So here I am… Here I am
I don’t want a life that I’ll regret
I don’t want to say “I wish I had bet”
So here I am… Here I am

You set out to find me
And I will guide through the way… yeah I’ll be there
The world is not just all that you can see
But if you’ll follow me, I’ll show you I swear

“Chorus”

One layer at a time
You can reveal yourself
I wonder if you’d mind
Letting go of your shell
One layer at a time
I’ll reveal myself
This life is now mine
I’m coming out of my shell

“Chorus”

LESSON LEARNED 2 OF 12:
We might fool the world in pretending to be someone we're not... but we will never completely fool ourselves.

I miss you… and I did love you
Just thought I’d write to let you know
I was wrong, you moved on
I thought I had but that’s a no

I’m sorry for all the pain
I caused when my life didn’t feel
the same
I guess that I got scared
When all the pressures of failing
got to my head

How we meet… I will never forget
How we believed that all would mend
Was it fate? And is it too late?
Life must go on but I can’t pretend

I’m sorry that I couldn’t find
The courage inside… the
strength in my mind
Maybe it had to be
But how come life is so empty
without you next to me?

I hope that life will treat you well
I hope your dreams can all come true
As for me… well I will see you in my
dreams

LESSON LEARNED 3 OF 12:
There are no right and wrong choices in life, only different ways of discovering and fulfilling our life's purpose.

It took a while
For me to understand
The reason why
I needed my life to change

But don’t try to
Make sense of it for me
You don’t have to
Cause you’re not me

“Chorus”
I’m on my way
I’m not sure where exactly
But that’s ok
It’s not how far I go
It’s knowing that today
Will be better than yesterday
I’m on my way

I realize
You might be challenged by this
But I hope you’ll try
To tame the urge to resist

But I won’t try to
Make sense of it for you
I don’t have to
Cause I’m not you

“Chorus”

“Bridge”
I can’t explain your feelings
You can’t explain mine
No we can’t explain a feeling
So let’s not even try…

And be on our way
No one knows where exactly
But that’s ok
It’s not how far we go
It’s knowing that today
Will be better than yesterday

It took a while for me
To understand the reason
Just look around
You’ll see the whole world is
changing

Yeah it took a while for me
To understand the reason
But just look around
The world is changing’
I’m on my way…

LESSON LEARNED 4 OF 12:
The world is changing. Sure we can try to prevent, ignore or deny this fact...but the world will still change.

Emptiness… fills my heart
As thoughts of us remain
Life’s a mess… but where to start?
Can it ever be the same?

“Chorus”
My life is broken
It’s not that I don’t want to be
I just lost the biggest part of me
My heart is mendin’
It’s the end of who I thought I’d be
But it’s not the end of me…

Months gone by… the pain remains
It’s hard to let it go
And though I try… it’ll never be the same
Only question… “Will I grow?”

“Chorus”

‘Cause My life is broken
It’s not that I don’t want to be
I just lost the biggest part of me
But my heart is mendin’
It’s the end of who I thought I’d be
But it’s not the end…

‘Cause my heart is mendin’…
Yes my life might be broken…
But my heart is mendin’
It’s the end of who I thought I’d be
But it’s not the end of me
It’s not the end... of me

LESSON LEARNED 5 OF 12:
The end of who we thought we'd be is not the end of who we are.

Saying that I don't really care
Is like saying you don't know me
Saying that it's not really fair
Is like saying you can't be free

“Pre-Chorus”
We made mistakes together
There’s no doubt
But life will soon be better if we reach out…

‘Cause heaven knows that in time we’ll
understand
And heaven knows that “our-time” cannot be
changed
So let’s reach out…

Saying that we both choose to learn
Is like saying “this was meant to be”
And saying that a second chance was earned
Is like saying we’ll both be free

“Pre-Chorus”

Heaven knows that in time we’ll understand
Heaven knows that “our-time” cannot be changed
Heaven knows that in time we’ll feel the same
Heaven knows that “our-time” should not be
changed
So let’s reach out…

LESSON LEARNED 6 OF 12:
Ignoring a situation, or pretending like it does not exist, will not make it magically go away.

It was a beautiful mornin’
About a quarter after nine
I got the message you were leavin’
Rewind… rewind…

I spent all day home cryin’
After all those years
I thought we were fine
We were the one thing I believed in
Rewind… rewind…

“Chorus”
I’ll say goodbye when I’m ready
Still holding on to what’s left
A broken heart with the memory
Of a story… the story of you and I

Morning after you came crashin’
Grabbed some boxes and said
“those are mine”
We barely looked as you were packin’
Rewind… rewind…

“Chorus”

Tell me something…
Is this worth breaking?
Our hearts need mending
Why? Oh why, can’t we just rewind?
Why can’t we just rewind?

LESSON LEARNED 7 OF 12:
Trying to see a situation from another's eyes is extremely valuable when trying to resolve any conflict.

I’ve fallen down
Over and over
And I‘ve prayed at times
For a four leaf clover

But now when the rain comes
I watch it fallin’ into my life
Until the sun shines again
And brings the rainbow

It hurts at times
Those words of anger
But hiding behind
Is a beautiful stranger

Who, when the rain comes
Can watch it fallin’ into their life
Until the sun shines again
And brings the rainbow

Look inside and you’ll see
Love is waiting to break free
Release the door for you and me

So when the rain comes
We’ll watch it fallin’ into our life
Until the sun shines again
And brings the rainbow

LESSON LEARNED 8 OF 12:
We can't control others or avoid life's unexpected challenges, but we are 100% in control of our reactions to those events.

Confusion is settling in
‘Cause I always thought you’d be the one
Those years of distance
Suddenly seem to fade away

This vision… it’s so painful
Cause I always thought you’d come around
Living my life for you
I never thought about me once… but for tonight...

“Chorus”
Don’t ask me how
‘Cause I wish I’d know… but I’ll never know
God knows I tried
But wish a part of me was letting go…

I see it before us
As I always thought it’d be one day
This life of love and sureness
This loneliness chased away… but for tonight…

“Chorus”

I’m letting go… But for tonight…

“Chorus”

Wish a part of me was letting go…
Wish a part of me was letting go…

LESSON LEARNED 9 OF 12:
By letting go of what could have been, we can focus our energy on what will be.

For a moment…
It felt as if my world was fallin’
For a moment…
I couldn’t believe the mess I brought in

For a moment…
My fire drowned and I felt like leavin’
For a moment…
… then you came around

“Chorus”
There’s something about it that
I just can’t describe
But with you right here
I know God is on my side
You lit it up when I could barely find the end
And I’d go through all of it again
For this moment

For a moment…
It felt as if my world was changin’
For a moment…
I had to believe that the best was comin’

For a moment…
I felt the love that I knew was missin’
For a moment…
…and you stayed around

“Chorus” (2x)

For this moment…

LESSON LEARNED 10 OF 12:
We all have one or many Guardian Angels protecting and guiding us at all times.

There’s this moment in time
When you want to hide
The shouting war is lost
But not your pride
Overdone and broken for the day
But morning light will show you
A better way

'Cause for tonight we dance!
’Cause for tonight we dance!

Let’s forget about this for a while
No objections… delayed is the trial
I wonder why and how this all began
But for tonight
Would you take my hand?

’Cause for tonight we dance!
’Cause for tonight we dance!

Musical Break

’Cause for tonight we dance!
’Cause for tonight we dance!

We can slow dance or tango
Either way we both know
We can slow dance or tango
Either way for tonight…

We can slow dance or tango
Either way we both know
We can slow dance or tango
Either way for tonight we dance

We dance… we dance… we dance!

LESSON LEARNED 11 OF 12:
When we catch ourselves trying to control others our of fear or anger, it's best to just let go and try to enjoy life.

The first time we meet was a Tuesday night
Walking at the park never felt this right
Whoa oh, we’re almost there…

You said yes for one more to my delight
This one lasted 3 days and 3 nights
Our future is looking bright
For you I will fight
This I swear…

When you reached out to hold my hand
I knew that I would be your man
You took my heart
And every breath that I would take
And now this love that we share
It’s all I breathe

A year has passed since she came along
This girl I found and love
Will soon be your mom
Whoa oh, we’re almost there…

You saw the light
A Friday morning after dawn
And just like magic
You were breathing on your own
I can’t wait to bring you home
And you’ll never be alone
This I swear…

When you reached out to grab my finger
You changed this man into your father
You took my heart
And every breath that I would take
And now this love that we share

It’s all I breathe... it’s all I breathe…

LESSON LEARNED 12 OF 12:
Making changes so that we can live OUR OWN life might not be easy... but it is certainly worth it.
